The Sojourner Home: The House of Strength

There are countless inspiring organizations in Rochester. It’s one of the many reasons why we love this rust belt city of ours -so many good folks doing good work.

One such group of people is The Sojourner Home: The House of Strength.

The House of Strength serves homeless women and children in a variety of ways. They cover everything from providing housing, educational programs, tutoring, and self-sufficiency skills. While also addressing the underlying issues that can cause homelessness such as mental illness, poverty, addiction, domestic violence or abuse, and inadequate education. The end goal is to transition women into permanent housing and provide them with the necessary skills to thrive.

In light of the political landscape and the attitude towards women’s rights within our current administration, we wanted to highlight an organization that greatly values and supports women. Sojourner Home does this and then some. Be sure to read all about their important work and see how you can help.

When you come to our new office party, be sure to bring new, unopened feminine hygiene products. We’re looking for items such as lotion & baby lotion, body wash, deodorant, or shaving cream. All of which will be donated to The Sojourner Home.

Founded in 2012 by Lisa Kribs, TGW Studio is an LGBTQ+/non-binary/women-owned and -operated social impact marketing firm that partners with forward-thinking brands to tell their stories.
