A Few Thoughts from the 4-Day Crew

Well, here we are. We’ve been rocking the 4-day workweek for some time now. We’ve gathered some internal data, we’ve had important conversations, we’ve cruised this exploratory ship as far as we need to. Our conclusion: we ain’t changing a damn thing.

This year, during some of the most uncertain, stressful, chaotic, and crazy times the modern work world has ever seen, we’ve fallen into such an amazing groove with the 4-day workweek that we’re not just cool with sitting back and enjoying it for ourselves. No… we’ve decided to go full advocacy mode from here on out. We’re happier. We’ve had more time to give to ourselves, our families, our communities. We’ve gotten in the woods more. We’ve volunteered more. We’ve relaxed with our kids more. We’ve developed creative side projects. We’ve connected with loved ones more. The list continues to grow as each extra weekly day off arrives.

What else have we done more of? We’ve increased revenue (this pandemic-hellscape-nightmare-#2020amirite-in-all-the-ways year is already our best year yet on all financials). We’ve gotten more efficient and productive (deep work for the win). We’ve been more creative (we think our partners would agree if you asked them… we’re super proud of the work we’ve put out this year). All the things on our crazy 4-day wishlist have become a reality. And there have certainly been benefits that we didn’t expect or dream up before going all in.

So, all that said, we don’t want to be selfish and keep this all within the walls of TGW and the other select few that have taken the dive. Hell no… we want you to get in on this, too. After living the benefits and seeing what it’s done for our team, we can only imagine the potential of a large wave of revamped workweeks would look like if many joined in. We’re looking forward to the days that it’s ancient history when a small-but-mighty shop like ours gets featured in TIME because examples of 4-day workweek companies are so abundant that it has become a not-so-crazy idea and even, well heck… the norm.
